Forced Witness: Grand Show Opening

Join us on January 4, 2025, for the opening of 'Forced Witness' at Rumriver Art Center, an evocative solo exhibition by Laura Hanson. This collection, spanning 2020-2024, captures humanity’s most challenging moments, from global health crises to civil unrest, war, and economic instability. Laura’s powerful paintings reflect the helplessness of witnessing these events, using art as a means of processing and healing during times of turmoil.

The day will begin with a 'Meet the Artist' session from 2-4pm, offering a chance to engage with Laura and explore the stories behind the work. From 5-7pm, celebrate the launch of Laura’s book, also titled Forced Witness, which expands upon the same themes explored in her art. Don’t miss a special reading by Joshua Preston during this segment.
