Commissions

Non-Refundable Policy: Commissions are non-refundable once work has started. Payment is required in full prior to beginning work to protect my time and resources.

Timeline: Commissions may take several days, weeks, or months to complete. If you require your commission by a specific date, please consider this timeframe carefully. While I have never missed a deadline, unforeseen circumstances can arise.

Scope of Work Agreement: Every estimate will include a price list and reference images detailing the agreed-upon size, design, and subject matter. Any changes to the agreed-upon scope (e.g., size, subject matter, or composition) after the project begins will require renegotiation and a new invoice. Written authorization through my invoicing software is the only valid authorization for changes. No work will proceed without it. This policy ensures clarity and prevents miscommunication or misunderstandings outside the original project agreement.
Customizations

Any additional customization requests for commissions (beyond the initial agreed-upon design) may result in additional charges. These must be approved and paid for before the additional work begins.

Revisions: Commissions include one round of revisions. Revisions are subjective to the artist. Additional revisions beyond this will be billed at $50/hour. This ensures the creative process remains efficient and prevents unnecessary back-and-forth.
Cancellations

Ready-Made Items: Orders for ready-made items can be canceled within 24 hours of purchase. After that, cancellations are not permitted as processing begins promptly. In the case you entered the wrong shipping information, please contact me and I can resolve it on my end.

Commissions: Custom commission orders cannot be canceled once work has started due to the time and materials already invested.
Returns and Exchanges

Returns: Due to the nature of my products (custom and one-of-a-kind), all sales are final. I do not accept returns or exchanges.

Exceptions: If an error occurs on my part (e.g., wrong item shipped), I will work with you to resolve the issue.
Shipping and Fulfillment

Tracking Information: A tracking number will be provided once the order has been fulfilled.

Packaging Responsibility: I will carefully package all paintings and ship items to ensure they are protected. However, I am not liable for damage that occurs during the postal process. Customers are encouraged to contact the shipping carrier for damages caused during transit. While this does not entitle the customer to a replacement at my expense, I am willing to work with customers on a case-by-case basis to resolve issues. Please retain all original packaging and take photos of the damage as proof.

Fulfillment Times:

Ready-made items will typically be fulfilled within 3-5 days after the order is placed.

Purses and apparel items are non-refundable due to the high production costs. Care instructions are provided with every order, and Laura Hanson Art assumes no liability for damage resulting from failure to follow these instructions.

Shipping Costs: Shipping fees reflect the cost of supplies and handling. As an independent artist, my costs may be higher than wholesale rates.

International Orders: Customers outside the U.S. or its territories should contact me for a shipping quote. Additional charges, such as Value-Added Tax (VAT), may apply, and customers are responsible for these fees. I will work to secure the lowest possible shipping rate.

Shipping Insurance: All commissions will include additional shipping insurance through the courier (USPS, FedEx, or UPS) at the customer’s expense.

Artwork will not be shipped until the full balance is paid. A tracking number will be provided once the order has been fulfilled.
Local Pickup

Pickup Location: Local pickup is available in Anoka, MN at a private location. After you place your order, a confirmation email will be sent to you with the pickup address and instructions. Advanced notification required. Please notify me at least 1 hour in advance of your intended pickup time. Pickup requests without prior notification may not be accommodated that day. Pickup is at a residential location and will not accept any pickup requests after 7pm, any way of the week.

Specific arrangements can be made, but personal delivery is no longer an option due to past experiences.

Unclaimed Items: If an item is not picked up within 90 days, it will be considered forfeited, and no refund will be issued. This policy complies with Minnesota's Statute 325F.80.
Purchases from Galleries

Refunds cannot be issued for paintings purchased from galleries where I have a consignment agreement (e.g., my solo exhibition at Rumriver Art Center).
Payment Options

Accepted payment methods include all major credit and debit cards, Afterpay, Klarna, Affirm, and PayPal. Offline payment options, such as cash, are available upon request. Please note that paying in cash does not qualify for a discount.
Taxes

Sales Tax: If required by law, sales tax will be added to your purchase at checkout.

International Taxes/Duties: Customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or fees required in their home country.

Customer Responsibility

Communication: Customers are responsible for responding promptly to any communications regarding their orders. Failure to do so may delay fulfillment or shipping.

Care Instructions: Customers must follow care instructions provided with products. Failure to do so may result in damage for which I am not liable.

Respectful Conduct: Maintaining mutual respect is fundamental to a positive and productive working relationship. Any form of abusive, coercive, guilt-tripping, or otherwise inappropriate behavior by the client will be considered a breach of this agreement. Such conduct will result in the immediate termination of the project, forfeiture of any deposits made, and cessation of all further work. This policy is in place to ensure a professional and respectful environment and will be upheld in any disputes, including chargebacks or legal challenges. By agreeing to these terms, clients acknowledge their obligation to uphold this standard of conduct throughout the transaction.
Intellectual Property

Copyright: All artwork and designs are the intellectual property of Laura Hanson Art and are protected under copyright law. They may not be reproduced, copied, distributed, or used in any form without prior written permission from the artist. This includes, but is not limited to, reposting artwork on social media, using it for commercial purposes, or altering it in any way. Written authorization is required for any use, ensuring the integrity of the work and respect for the artist’s rights.

Use of Images: I reserve the right to use images of commissioned work in my portfolio, marketing, and on social media. If you prefer not to have your commission shared publicly, please let me know in writing before the project begins.
Legal/Disputes

All transactions, agreements, and disputes related to Laura Hanson Art are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. By making a purchase or commissioning artwork, the Client agrees that any disputes, claims, or controversies arising from the transaction shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Anoka County, Minnesota. The Client consents to the jurisdiction of these courts and waives any objections based on venue or inconvenience of forum.
Privacy Policy
By placing an order, you agree to these terms and conditions. Laura Hanson Art reserves the right to update or modify these policies at any time without prior notice to customers. Changes will take effect immediately upon being posted to this website. By continuing to interact with or make purchases through this website, you agree to the latest version of these policies.
